I have arrived in Delhi and it is midnight. We were greeted at the airport with beautiful garland of marigolds. Then we drove the infamous streets of Delhi. I will have a better view and understanding of the streets tomorrow in the daylight. I saw one cow in our path on the road. What is a cow doing on the road close to midnight? I guess they don’t have set sleeping hours. I was surprised by the amount of pedestrians, bicycles and some other vehicles I hope to identify tomorrow. The volume of traffic seemed as though it was much earlier in the evening.

At the hotel a lovely Indian woman adorned my forehead with a red tika, which is considered auspicious. While we waited for our keys, we drank delicious mango juice.
I met several people in the group at the airport before we took off. I had wonderful conversations with fellow math educators and will have more.
On the 14-hour flight, in addition to sleeping, I read Walking From East to West, a spiritual autobiography by Ravi Zacharias. I strongly recommend reading this book. What an amazing story of God’s love and grace. This also served as an excellent window into Indian culture. He talked about the delicious Indian dessert of milk, sugar, pistachio and cardamom. We were served this on the flight over with our dinner. For a dinner epilogue we ate Jyoti, a natural mouth freshener of fennel, coriander, sesame seeds, rose extracts, and sorry to say FD&C food coloring. :)
We are glad to see you made it safely to India! As I read your post to Isaac, he kept saying, "ah" as if he was also glad to hear you were doing well. ~Jenee
