The Sagar School

                                                     Dusk
Sagar School is a residential school in "the middle of nowhere" and it seemed that way as we drove there! That was the desire of the man who created it. The school is only ten years old, is a campus, and boasts beautiful state-of-the-art buildings.
This is where students stay. Five to six students share a room. They are responsible to tidy their room each morning. The wake up at 5:15 to exercise  before breakfast and are responsible for their laundry and other chores.

Notice the numbers. Each student has a number and a locker to put clean clothes in.

The dance instructor explains how students include facial expressions and hand movement with dance.

Even the sneakers seem to be part of the uniform! This is the entrance to the dance class.
Indian classes use Roman numerals. Anyone in eighth grade know what number this is? They spend time converting Roman numerals to decimal numbers.
Students sat on the left and we all sat on the right for the maths lesson on volume. Strong emphasis is placed on mental math, expressing pi as 22/7 and looking for multiples of 11. There is a cool trick to multiply by 11. My math students will see that upon my return. :)
                                   Students in 9th grade
They have a community project to help the local women learn a trade. We purchased some of their handicrafts. Again, poverty is all around the school which has been in existence for 10 years. This was a wonderful experience for us to see. There are students from around the world. One is from the U.S.

Of course yoga is part of their physical education program.
We eat together in their dining hall.

  1. Being primarily residential in nature, these schools allow the students to develop themselves in various fields.
